Images are missing a text description

Pictures, charts and logos need a short written description, called alt text. A screen reader reads it out loud in place of the image.

Who it affects

People who are blind or have low vision and use a screen reader.

Why it matters

Without a description, the image is skipped or announced as just "image". Anything it shows, like a chart's trend or a map, is lost.

How to fix it

  1. Describe what the image means in the document, not every detail. One or two sentences is usually enough.
  2. For a chart, state the main point, such as "Sales rose 20% from 2024 to 2025."
  3. If an image is only decoration, mark it as decorative so it is skipped.
  4. In Word: right-click the picture and choose Edit Alt Text (View Alt Text in some versions).
  5. In Adobe Acrobat Pro: open the accessibility tools and choose Set Alternate Text.

What RemeDocs does

RemeDocs writes descriptions for images automatically. Please check them, because you know best what each image is meant to show.
